It’s time again to provide our fans with an indepth review of small drones, in our arsenal is the latest drone from JJRC, the JJRC H36 mini quadcopter drone. We already wrote a preview article of the JJRC H36 read it here. And as promise here is the in-depth review of the JJRC H36 mini quadcopter drone.
If you are not new to the drone world, the JJRC H36 is pretty similar to the Eachine E010, in fact you can say it is just the same drone, just a rebranded one. It has the same specs and controller. Anyways whether it’s the same drone or not let’s have a review of JJRC H36 quadcopter drone.
Our drone came from Gearbest.com our favorite online tech shopping site; you might want to check out their product page to see the latest drone and deals.
Design – the H36 is categorized as mini/small drone in fact if you are going to hold the drone; it is about the size of your palm. Its lightweight, which is easy to carry, the description says you can carry it in your pocket well that is absurd; it’s small but not that too small to put it in your pocket. With the transmitter, just tossed it in your backpack and bring it anywhere. Going back to its overall design, the drone does have a helicraft look concept similar to the flying fortress of the Shield in Avengers.
Its blade is protected by a propeller protector built in the body itself making it safe for the drone, protecting the propeller as well as the user. In fact you can even fly the drone towards you and catch it in midair, its safe and it’s easy, but of course it’s not that easy for newbies.
It has a small LED lights on the front (blue LED) and back (yellow LED). It doesn’t provide much illumination at night but enough to see the drone in midair.
Controlling the drone –before we go to the performance of the drone in flying, let’s have first its flying features. The JJRC H36 do have 360 degree eversion, a headless mode to avoid loss of orientation and a return to home mode which is pretty cool for a small drone. If JJRC added an altitude hold mode to it, it could have been an awesome drone adding additional reason for the user to buy the drone.
We found the JJRC H36 easy to fly with its standard flying mode and calibration, yes there are some crashes can’t avoid that, it’s a good thing it got a built in propeller protector, it’s safe to fly the drone whether its indoor or outdoors. If it’s your first time to fly the drone, you might have a hard time setting up the drone for the first time; yes the drone goes with a user manual but with a lot of typos making it confusing sometimes, anyways just read it again and again to figure it out.
The drone has 5-6 minutes of flying time, I guess more…there is no camera making the battery last more than the stated flight time based on our test. If that is not enough, it has a removable battery allowing you to buy a spare battery for longer flight time.
Transmitter – the controller is a palm size and easy to hold and its buttons are mostly located on the top of the transmitter. The controller is a left hand throttle, a multi-function button on the upper let side and a trimming button on the right side. Other features such as forward, backward fine tuning on the top. A calibration instruction in setting the drone and syncing with your transmitter is stated in the user manual (check before flying). Note: you need a double AA battery for the transmitter; it doesn’t come with the purchase of quadcopter.
